The modern, responsive KUMISA website
Awali Solutions partnered with KUMISA to transform its outdated, non-responsive website into a modern, fully responsive digital platform — designed for today’s desktop, tablet and mobile users, with an AI-powered chatbot, improved content structure, member functionality and SEO foundations.
www.kumisa.comFounded in 2009, KUMISA – the KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry Association – is a non-profit music industry organisation focused on supporting the development, growth and sustainability of the KwaZulu-Natal music sector.
The organisation works with artists, music professionals, programmes, industry stakeholders and partners across KwaZulu-Natal.
Its digital presence therefore plays an important role in communicating its work and connecting people with relevant organisational and industry information.
KUMISA’s previous website had become outdated and no longer provided the digital experience expected from a modern music-industry organisation.
One of the most significant challenges was responsiveness. The older website was not properly designed around today’s mobile, tablet and desktop browsing requirements.
As more people access online information through smartphones, KUMISA needed a website that could adapt seamlessly across screen sizes while presenting its programmes, stakeholders, members and organisational information more effectively.
“How do we transform an ageing, non-responsive website into a modern digital platform for KwaZulu-Natal’s music industry?”
Awali Solutions approached the project as a complete website transformation rather than a cosmetic redesign. The upgrade addressed the website’s visual experience, responsiveness, content structure, navigation, member experience, search foundations and accessibility of organisational information.

The redesigned website gives KUMISA a contemporary digital presence that better reflects its role within the music industry. The new interface improves how information is presented while maintaining the organisation’s existing identity and purpose.
The redesign focused on:

The redesigned KUMISA homepage
A key objective of the KUMISA upgrade was moving away from the previous non-responsive website. The new platform is designed to adapt across desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Layouts, text, images, navigation and interactive elements respond to the user’s screen size, creating a more consistent experience across devices.

One Website. Every Screen.
The modernised KUMISA website also introduces an AI-powered chatbot designed to make organisational information easier to access.
Instead of requiring visitors to manually search through multiple pages, the chatbot provides another way for users to interact with KUMISA’s website information.
The chatbot complements the website’s traditional navigation and helps create a more interactive digital experience.

AI-powered assistance integrated into the modern KUMISA website
The chatbot reflects approved KUMISA information. Its knowledge stays aligned with the website’s current content, including KUMISA organisational information, programmes, stakeholders, membership information and publicly available organisational content.
Important: The chatbot does not describe members-only Opportunities as publicly available. Current approved stakeholder information is used, and outdated website content does not contradict updated website information.
Modernising the website also required reviewing how KUMISA’s information was structured. The new digital experience creates clearer pathways to:
The result is a website architecture designed around the information visitors actually need.
As part of the website restructuring, the Opportunities area was repositioned as members-only content. This creates a clearer distinction between information intended for the general public and content intended specifically for KUMISA members.
The upgraded website also improves how KUMISA’s music-industry stakeholders are presented.

The website upgrade also included improvements to the foundations required for search visibility. This includes consideration of:
No first-page Google rankings, traffic improvements or search statistics are claimed. Performance statistics can be added later when sufficient Analytics and Search Console data becomes available.
The KUMISA website transformation replaced an ageing, non-responsive online presence with a modern digital platform designed around today’s users.
The new website creates a stronger experience across desktop, tablet and mobile while introducing improved content organisation, member-focused functionality, updated stakeholder information and an AI-powered chatbot.
The result is a digital foundation that better reflects KUMISA’s role within KwaZulu-Natal’s evolving music industry.
